How to formulate your Query

All fields are case insensitive.
Some fields (ie 'Well Name', 'ENO', 'Basin', 'Operator') will search on either the whole or partial input.
The wildcard character * (asterisk) may be used in any position in these fields (eg '*gorgon' will return 'Gorgon 3', 'Central Gorgon 1', 'North Central Gorgon 1' and 'North Gorgon 4'; 'king' will return all wells starting with 'king' including 'Kingfish 5', 'Kingfish A 7', 'Kingfisher 1' and 'Kingston'. An * is not required at the end of the input text.

Wells containing restricted or confidential information will not display any sample data. These wells have a status of Confidential.

Well Name: Input the whole or partial name of the well (eg input 'dam' and wells such as 'Damsel 1' and 'Dampier 1' will be returned). Multiple well names are allowed and are to be separated by a comma ','.

ENO: Input the Entity Number (a unique number defined by Geoscience Australia) that identifies a specific well (eg '10437'). Multiple numbers are allowed and separated by a comma ','.

Region: Select a political region (eg 'WA' or 'JPDA') from the drop-down list.

Basin: Input the whole or partial name of the basin (eg 'Bonaparte' or 'Northern Carnarvon'. If a partial name is input, the query will return all wells that are in any basin starting with the partial name.

Status: Select a well status (eg 'suspended') from the drop-down list.

Operator: Input the whole or partial name of the operator of the well (eg 'BHP'). If a partial name is input, the query will return all wells whose operators start with the partial name.

Well Type: Select a well type (eg 'Exploration') from the drop-down list.

Location: Select a well location from the drop-down list (eg 'off shore').

Title/Release: Input a title code (eg 'ZOCA 96-20') or a release number (eg 'W02-7'). For titles, all wells located within the spatial boundaries of this title will be returned. For release numbers, an area encompassing the release will be returned. This area will include any wells in the release, as well as some wells from the surrounding area.

Timescale: Select a timescale from the drop-down list (eg AGSO 1996). The timescale selected will be used to produce data for all pages thereafter.

Latitude: Input a positive number (eg '23' or '30.075'). All latitudes are assumed to be South. If only one latitude is input, the search will be +/- 0.005 degrees of the number input (eg input '28' and all wells between 27.995S and 28.005S will be returned). If two latitudes are input, the search will be conducted between the numbers input (eg input '28' and '30', all wells between 28S and 30S will be returned).

Longitude: Input a positive number (eg '133' or '149.375'). All longitudes are assumed to be East. If only one longitude value is input, the search will be +/- 0.005 degrees of the number input (eg input '128.5' and all wells between 128.495E and 128.505E will be returned). If two longitudes are input, the search will be conducted between the numbers input (eg input '128' and '130', all wells between 128E and 130E will be returned).

TD Date: Total depth dates are required to be in the format DD/MM/YYYY. If only the 'From' date is input, all wells with a Total Depth date after this will be returned. If only the 'To' date is input, all wells with a Total Depth date prior to this will be returned. If both dates are input, all wells with a Total Depth date between them will be returned.

Era/Stage: The selected timescale is used for all eras/stages. If a broad era/stage (eg 'Jurassic' or 'Albian') is input, all wells with samples containing evidence at least as old as the era/stage will be returned. If a more precise stage (eg pollen or fossil type) is input, all wells with samples containing the stage will be returned. The wildcard character (*) can be used in this field, eg to check for all 'd. jurassicum' types input 'd* jurassicum'.

Age (Ma): Ages are numbers representing millions of years (eg input '145' for 145,000,000 years). Wells will be returned that have samples that are at least as old as the year(s) input.

Organic Geochemistry/Biostratigraphy/Reservoir-Facies: If a box is checked, only wells with sample data of the type selected will be returned.

Generate well header data for all wells: If the box is checked, well header data is generated for all wells. All other parameters entered will be ignored.

Petrosys format: Generates well header data in Petrosys format.

Sort results by: Select the order in which to sort the retrieved wells. The default is by Well Name.

Submit Query: Executes the query based on the entered parameters. The query will not execute if no parameters are entered. To retrieve all wells, enter * in the Well Name field. Retrieving all wells may take 5-10 minutes.

Clear All: Clears all entered parameters.

Update Map: Refreshes the map for the entered parameters.

Map Interactivity: The application defaults to using SVG. If you have problems displaying the Map, trying changing this setting to Javascript.

Bathymetry & Topography: A hyperlink opens a new window that displays the metadata for the Australian Bathymetry and Topography Images. Clicking in the checkbox selects a map layer that displays the Bathymetry and Topography.

Wells: A hyperlink opens a new window that displays the metadata for Petroleum Wells. The Wells checkbox refreshes the image and displays all wells.

Additional layers: A hyperlink opens a new window where additional map layers may be selected.

Map size: Map may be resized by selecting the map size from the drop-down list.
